About this event

Now more than ever, women, girls and those who are gender-diverse are experiencing levels of increasing violence in many spaces: in-person or online. How do we prevent the spread of this kind of hateful mentality and stop it from disseminating amongst our students? We must educate not only to develop knowledge and empathy but also to encourage leadership and activism to fight for equal rights and protections. The next generation must stamp out the causes that are behind anti-feminism.

Please join the STA Status of Women Committee inconversation with Angela Marie MacDougall, Executive Director of Battered Women's Support Services and Anastasia Gaisenok, formerly of the Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships, at beautiful Beecher Place in Crescent Beach.

Dinner will be provided, as well as a copy of award winning Gitxsan journalist Angela's Sterritt's book, Unbroken.

The Surrey Teachers’ Association Status of Women Committee sponsors the Grade 7 Girls' Leadership Conference for girls attending Surrey public schools. Our goal is to inspire girls to take leadership roles in their schools and communities. The conference aims to strengthen the girls’ perceptions of their capabilities to make a difference. ​There is no charge for this conference and the teachers who have planned the conference have volunteered their time and expertise to make it happen.
